Cherokee County's history is filled with rich figures; all with a tale to tell. The following people would like to guide you through the county they knew - the places and people and the events that shaped their lives.
Little Fourkiller
1838, age 10 years
Shoal Creek
He and his family were forcibly removed along with over 14,000 Native Americans to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears.
William Grisham
1861, age 58
Canton
He was one of Canton's first town commissioners and postmaster. He also worked as a clerk at the Dahlonega mint.
Clara Bedell
1902, Age 18
Canton
She was the daughter of the sheriff of Canton and attended Reinhardt Normal School.
Magnolia Thomas
1930, Age 40
Woodstock
She was a graduate of Spelman Seminary in Atlanta and she taught school in Woodstock.
